First of all, hello everybody. My name is Cisco. Pleased to meet you.

I wanted to get some feedback on this idea before I start setting stuff up. I have been thinking about starting an art thread for a long time, and I always thought it would be beneficial to work with other people in a "follow along" sort of way. I want to set up a thread with weekly themes and inspiration that others can participate in. An ongoing competition, if you will.

Rather than asking people to take time out of their busy schedule of watching pony cartoons and whatnot to post a review or criticism on my thread, I felt that giving people the option of playing along (as it were) could be of more interest to a wider range of artists and their according skill levels. I want to make it clear that I don't intend on mandating other people's artistic direction and commitment.

If I were to move ahead with this, would YOU be interested in stopping by in the future? Please let me know your thoughts on this idea, and I would appreciate your feedback on these four points:

(1) I want this thread to be treated more as a personal art thread and less as an obligatory collab page. What I mean to say is this: my plan for this thread is that I will plug along with the weekly themes and topics that I want to pursue, with the acknowledgment that anyone is welcome to offer critique and ideas (as in a normal personal art thread), with the added invitation that you "attempt" to outdo my effort, resulting in a mutual exchange of constructive criticism and healthy competition.

I want the thread to include elements of a competition, in that people will be working on the same theme, yet without a prize :( or winner - which hopefully won't dissuade too many people, but help highlight everyone's individual style while keeping the group on an even plane (in content). In conclusion - I may be the only one submitting to this future thread. However, I'd prefer to work with other artists in a chill environment - in a more direct way than submitting to the art portal or my personal art thread. This thread would have no penalties for missing a weekly theme/assignment and no reason to limit the collaboration to the better artists of Newgrounds. There is no pressure. Its completely up to you to join in or not. It is my wish that someone will benefit from a thread of weekly ideas and inspiration - that you can choose to keep to yourself and your own pace, or participate in publicly. I know how hard it can be to think of new directions and find artistic inspiration. There it is, in a nutshell.

(2) Does this idea belong in a different area of the forum? Would this thread overstep any organizational boundaries of the general art forum? I would prefer to keep it out of the Collaboration and Club forums - as I am not looking for anything specific or for a role that needs filling, but ya know. DGAF.

(3) How would you recommend I go about setting up a thread for this idea? A single thread containing all the weekly topics, submissions, and critique... or one thread for submissions, and separate one for ideas and topics?

(4) Has this type of thing been set up already, and am I simply ignorant of its existence?

Well I have said enough. Thoughts?
